Ramadan in Birmingham 2027: the best iftar and suhoor spots
Birmingham's Ramadan food scene is genuinely one of the best in the UK. The city has a large enough Muslim community that most halal restaurants extend their hours, run special menus, and pack out every evening from Maghrib through to late. If you're planning iftar and suhoor in Birmingham for Ramadan 2027, here's what to know — and what to book before it fills.
The iftar buffet circuit
Meat Club in Edgbaston runs what many call Birmingham's best Ramadan iftar buffet — multiple cuisines, steakhouse-quality proteins, and a room that feels like a proper occasion. It books out weeks in advance during Ramadan, so mark the date and reserve early.
Mughal-e-Azam does Ramadan spreads at banqueting scale — 250 covers, the full desi menu, and the capacity to handle large extended-family iftars without anyone queuing in the car park. Consistently popular year on year.
MyLahore extends hours through Ramadan and typically runs iftar deals — mixed grills, karahi, the works, with their own car park so the post-Maghrib rush doesn't turn into a parking nightmare.
The late-night suhoor options
Suhoor is where Birmingham's desi breakfast spots come into their own. Alamgir and Apna Lahore on and around Ladypool Road traditionally extend to late-night or early-morning hours during Ramadan — halwa puri, parathas, omelettes and karak chai at 2am is one of the city's great Ramadan rituals.
House of Chaii in the city centre is worth checking for Ramadan hours — their chai and snacks menu is built for exactly this kind of late sitting.
Book early — this is serious advice
During the last ten days of Ramadan especially, Birmingham's best halal restaurants are genuinely full every night. Popular venues start taking bookings 2-3 weeks before Ramadan begins. The spots with parking (MyLahore, Mughal-e-Azam, Mahfil, Meat Club) handle the volume better but still need advance reservation for groups of 6+.
